Station wagons for rent in Moscow: Lada Largus and Vesta SW Cross

Customer support
Published Updated

Need a spacious car for your family, trips out of town, or transporting large items? Rent a practical station wagon in Moscow — a Lada Largus for 7 seats or a Lada Vesta SW Cross for 5 seats, from 2 800 ₽ per day.

Which station wagons are available for rent in Moscow and how do they differ

In our rental, there are two station wagons — Lada Largus and Lada Vesta SW Cross, both in the Economy class with a gasoline engine and front-wheel drive. The difference is in the number of seats and transmission type: Largus is chosen when you need 7 seats, Vesta SW Cross when you prefer an automatic and a more powerful 1.8 L engine with 122 hp. We deliver both vehicles within the capital, the region, and to four airports; delivery terms are confirmed upon booking.

Lada Largus — station wagon for 7 passengers

Lada Largus in our fleet is a practical station wagon with three rows of seats, seating 7 people, with a manual transmission and a 1.6 L engine producing 106 hp. The price is 2 800 ₽ per day. The car is suitable for trips with a large family or a company: the third row folds down, resulting in a spacious trunk for dacha or construction loads. In Moscow traffic jams and on Moscow region highways, the manual does not cause trouble — traffic here is smooth, and on the suburban M-11 or M-12, fifth gear is enough for overtaking. OSAGO (compulsory third-party insurance) is issued for the car in accordance with the law; CASCO (comprehensive insurance) terms and deposit amount are specified in the rental agreement.

Lada Vesta SW Cross — station wagon with automatic

Lada Vesta SW Cross — a station wagon for 5 passengers with an automatic transmission, a 1.8 L engine with 122 hp, and a price of 2 900 ₽ per day. We recommend this car if several drivers with different experience will be behind the wheel or if long hauls are ahead — for example, to Saint Petersburg along the M-11 Neva motorway or to Kazan along the M-12 Vostok motorway, where the automatic reduces fatigue. The Cross version has higher ground clearance than the regular Vesta, but you cannot go off-road — this is stipulated in the rental agreement. In winter, we install studded tires on both cars, which is mandatory by law from December to February.

Comparison of station wagons in the Rent-Trip fleet

ModelSeatsTransmissionEnginePowerPrice per day
Lada Largus7Manual1.6 L, petrol106 hp2 800 ₽
Lada Vesta SW Cross5Automatic1.8 L, petrol122 hp2 900 ₽

Both cars are front-wheel drive, which is a workable option for the Moscow winter with snow and slush: the key is timely tyre changes, not the type of drive. If you are torn between 7 seats and an automatic, consider who will be driving more often and how many people are travelling: for a family with children, the Largus makes more sense; for a couple or a business trip with luggage, the Vesta SW Cross. A week's rental of either starts from 16 800 ₽, a month from 58 800 ₽, which is cheaper than the daily rate.

Prices for renting station wagons in Moscow - daily, weekly, and monthly

In the Rent-Trip rental, Lada Largus and Lada Vesta SW Cross station wagons cost 2 800–2 900 ₽ per day, while a week or month is noticeably cheaper per day. This format is beneficial when you need a car not just for a day, but for the dacha season, a family business trip, or a long trip along the Golden Ring.

Rates for station wagons at Rent-Trip

ModelPrice per dayWeek (6 days)Month (21 days)
Lada Largus, 7 seats, manual2 800 ₽from 16 800 ₽from 58 800 ₽
Lada Vesta SW Cross, 5 seats, automatic2 900 ₽from 17 400 ₽from 60 900 ₽

We calculate the weekly rate as six days, and the monthly rate as twenty-one days, so the final price is lower than with daily payment. For a trip to Saint Petersburg on the M-11 Neva motorway, two days are enough, but for a round trip to Kazan on the M-12 Vostok motorway, allow at least three to four days. If you are renting a station wagon for a month for a dacha in the Moscow region, the difference compared to daily payment becomes significant—saving almost a third of the budget.

In our experience, clients most often take the Lada Vesta SW Cross with an automatic transmission for the weekend for a trip to Tula or Kolomna — the price of 2 900 ₽ per day includes car delivery within the capital. The Largus for seven seats is snapped up for a week when going to Yaroslavl or Vladimir with the whole family: three rows of seats and a trunk for a full supply of things. When booking, it is clarified whether delivery to your district or airport is included in the price — this is recorded individually in the contract. The exact terms for mileage and deposit are also specified in the contract, so before payment it is worth asking the manager about the details of the specific rate.

What documents are needed to rent a station wagon in the capital

To rent a station wagon in Moscow, a Russian citizen only needs a passport and a category B driving licence. For a foreigner, the list is longer: a migration card, visa or residence permit, as well as a licence issued in their home country are added. At Rent-Trip, we check documents when handing over the car—this takes about ten minutes, and the client drives away in the car the same day.

Package of documents for Russian citizens

  • Russian passport: it certifies identity and confirms registration — without it the agreement is not executed.
  • Category B driving licence: suitable for driving the Lada Largus and Lada Vesta SW Cross — both models belong to the passenger car category.
  • Bank card in the driver's name: Used for the insurance deposit, the amount of which is specified in the contract.

What a foreign driver needs

For guests of the capital, the set of documents differs from the package for Russian citizens. In addition to a national driving licence, documents confirming legal stay in Russia are required. A migration card and a visa or residence permit are mandatory elements; without them, rental cannot be arranged. The period of car use must not exceed the visa validity—this is a requirement of migration legislation, not the rental company. National driving licences of citizens of countries party to the Vienna Convention on Road Traffic are valid in Russia without additional formalities. A driving licence issued in a state not party to the convention, such as China, is valid only with a notarized translation or an International Driving Permit—this is established in Article 25 of Federal Law No. 196-FZ. Before booking, clarify with Rent-Trip by phone or in MAX whether your licence falls under this requirement—we will advise what documents to prepare. Age requirements and driving experience depend on the car class—specific values are specified in the contract.

Can I rent a station wagon in Moscow with a Chinese driving licence?

Yes, renting a station wagon in the capital with Chinese driving licence is possible, but only with a notarized translation into Russian or an International Driving Permit (IDP). The requirement is stipulated in Article 25 of Federal Law No. 196-FZ: a licence issued outside the countries party to the Vienna Convention on Road Traffic is valid only with a translation.

China has not joined the Vienna Convention, so a Chinese driving licence by itself does not give the right to drive a car in Russia. In this regard, foreign guests from China often have questions about what documents are needed to rent a station wagon. At Rent-Trip, we regularly rent out cars to guests from China and know all the nuances of this procedure.

  • Notarized translation: certified translation of a Chinese licence at a notary in Moscow. Production time — from 30 minutes to 1 business day, cost depends on the office.
  • International Driving Permit (IDP): A document obtained in China before arrival is valid in Russia without translation.
  • Passport and migration card: Mandatory for concluding a rental agreement.
  • Visa or residence permit: confirm the legality of presence in the country.

The driver's age and experience must meet the rental company's requirements — for economy-class station wagons they are lower than for higher-category vehicles; the exact terms are specified in the rental agreement. Driving without a translation or an International Driving Permit is equivalent to driving without a license: the fine ranges from 5 000 to 15 000 ₽, and the vehicle is towed to an impound lot.

Before booking a station wagon in the capital, we recommend preparing a notarized translation or an International Driving Permit in advance — this will avoid delays when the car is delivered, especially if you plan to pick up the car immediately after arriving at Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo, Vnukovo, or Zhukovsky. The full list of documents for rental is clarified at booking.

Delivery of a rented station wagon to Moscow airports, railway stations, and the region

We deliver the estate without a driver within Moscow, the Moscow region, to all four airports of the capital, and to ten railway stations — the client receives the car at the arrival point and immediately goes about their business. Rent-Trip operates without a physical office, so the meeting with the car is organized where it is convenient for you: at the airport terminal, at the station parking lot, or at an address in the city.

Which capital airports we deliver the station wagon to

  • Sheremetyevo (SVO): north of the capital, about 30 km from the MKAD ring road via the M-11 or Leningradskoye Shosse.
  • Domodedovo (DME): south, about 45 km along Kashirskoye Highway or M-4.
  • Vnukovo (VKO): southwest, about 28 km along the Kievskoye or Borovskoye Highway.
  • Zhukovsky (ZIA): southeast, about 40 km along the Novoryazanskoye Highway.

Delivery to railway stations and addresses in the city

We bring the car to any of the ten railway stations of the capital — Leningradsky, Yaroslavsky, Kazansky, Kursky, Kievsky, Belorussky, Paveletsky and others. In the booking request, specify your flight or train number; meeting conditions and delivery time are clarified upon booking.

What to consider for airport delivery

When planning, allow time for the road to the airport: to Sheremetyevo (SVO) during rush hour via Leningradskoye Shosse — up to an hour and a half; to Domodedovo (DME) via Kashirskoye — about an hour. Passage on toll sections of the M-11 or M-12 is paid by the renter — via transponder or by license plate within the time limit set by the road operator. Delivery details, including cost and waiting time, are specified in the rental agreement.

Toll roads and fines from cameras when renting a station wagon in Moscow

Toll sections are a common part of trips beyond the MKAD ring road, and when renting a station wagon from Rent-Trip, you know in advance how they are paid. The lion's share of motorways such as the M-11 Neva or the M-12 Vostok are toll roads along their entire length, and within the city, the MSD and the TsKAD ring are toll roads.

How toll roads are paid for

  • MSD and TsKAD ring within the city: 9 sections of the MSD and sections of the TsKAD ring are charged at 19 ₽ per passage during peak hours — on weekdays from 7:00 to 11:00 and from 16:00 to 20:00. At other times and on weekends, passage is free.
  • M-11 Neva motorway to Saint Petersburg: ~700 km of toll road, payment for the entire stretch—this is the main route for a trip to the Northern capital.
  • M-12 Vostok to Kazan: a class 1 passenger car covers the entire route for 5 909 ₽.
  • Transponder: The device in the car gives a discount of up to 25% on most toll roads. The availability of a transponder and the settlement procedure are clarified when booking.
  • Payment by licence plate: if there is no transponder, the system recognizes the number and the road operator issues an invoice — payment must be made within the set timeframe.

The renter pays for travel on toll sections. The possibility of payment via transponder and the settlement procedure are specified in the rental agreement. The exact amount debited depends on the route and time of day.

Fines from cameras

Cameras record speeding, lane marking violations, and driving on a dedicated lane. The fine goes to the car owner — i.e., Rent-Trip — after which we pass it on to the renter. The amount corresponds to the order; the re-invoicing procedure is specified in the rental agreement.

Parking costs in the center should also be considered: from 8:00 to 21:00, an hour costs 380–800 ₽, at night — 200 ₽. The fine for non-payment is 5 000 ₽, plus tow truck will cost 8 500–12 450 ₽ with storage. Before a trip to the center, check the parking zone — inside the Garden Ring, rates are maximum.

Features of renting station wagons in Moscow in winter — tires and operation

In winter, a station wagon in the capital is a practical choice: both the Lada Largus and the Lada Vesta SW Cross drive through snowy Moscow more confidently than low sedans, and the warm trunk easily accommodates skis, sleds, and bags of groceries for the dacha. We tell how we prepare cars for cold weather and what to know before a trip.

Winter tires by law

From December to February, a requirement of the technical regulation TR CU 018/2011 is in effect in Russia: the car must have winter tyres. The entire Rent-Trip fleet, including Largus and Vesta SW Cross station wagons, is switched completely for the season — this is a condition for the car to be allowed to operate, not an option. From June to August, studded tyres cannot be used, so in the warm season the cars run on summer tyres. Details of preparing the car for the season are specified in the rental agreement.

What to consider when driving in winter

  • Car warming up: before starting, let the engine idle for 3–5 minutes — the Largus with a manual gearbox and the Vesta SW Cross with an automatic are sensitive to frost below −15 °C.
  • Snow and slush on the roads: station wagons are front-wheel drive — this is a plus on ice: the car behaves predictably in corners if you apply the throttle smoothly.
  • Snow cleaning: before driving, be sure to clear snow from the roof and headlights — the fine for an uncleaned car in the capital is 1 000 ₽.
  • Toll roads in winter: M-11 Neva and M-12 Vostok motorways are cleared around the clock, but local traffic jams are possible in a snowstorm — allow extra time.

In our experience, most winter requests are for short trips around the city and the Moscow region on weekends: to Kolomna (about 2 hours via the M-5) or along the Golden Ring to Sergiev Posad. If you are planning a long trip to Saint Petersburg on the M-11 (approximately 700 km), keep in mind that the motorway is tolled along its entire length, and during snowfall, travel time can increase by one to one and a half hours. Winter tires on station wagons are standard; additional terms for operating the car during the cold season are clarified when booking.

What to consider before renting a station wagon in Moscow

The estate solves a specific task: to transport a family, large luggage, or seven passengers. Before placing an order, check the checklist to see if the car suits your trip — it will take five minutes and save you from unnecessary expenses.

  • Number of seats: If six or seven people are travelling, take a Lada Largus with 7 seats; for a trip of four with large suitcases, a Vesta SW Cross with 5 seats is enough.
  • Gearbox: Largus is available with a manual, Vesta SW Cross — with an automatic; if you confidently drive only an automatic, the choice is obvious.
  • Rental period: The daily rate for the wagon is 2 800–2 900 ₽, a week will cost from 16 800 ₽, a month from 58 800 ₽, while a day in long-term rental is cheaper.
  • Insurance: OSAGO covers every car by law; CASCO terms are specified in the rental contract — check them before signing.
  • Deposit and mileage limit: The hold amount on the card and the mileage limit are specified in the contract; the manager will confirm the figures when booking.

Check the route: for a trip to Saint Petersburg via the M-11 or to Kazan via the M-12, include the toll — a transponder gives a discount of up to 25%. Fines from cameras come to the car owner; the rental re-invoices them to the renter, so check notifications after returning the car. In winter, make sure the car is fitted with seasonal tires: from December to February this is a legal requirement, and our fleet switches to winter tires completely. Conditions for trips outside the region and other special cases of car use are clarified when booking.

Bring your passport and a category B driving licence; for foreigners, a migration card is additionally required. At the agreed time, we deliver a station wagon to the capital, to the region, or to any of the four airports - Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo, Vnukovo, or Zhukovsky. Contact us via MAX or by phone - the manager will confirm the availability of the car for the required dates and agree on the delivery details.
