Car rental for 7 days in Moscow: selection and conditions

Customer support
Published Updated

Planning to rent a car for a week in Moscow? We have 45 cars in 8 classes from 2 300 ₽ per day, and with long-term rental the price decreases: a week — from 13 800 ₽, a month — from 48 300 ₽.

How much does it cost to rent a car for a week in Moscow and what is included in the price

The weekly rate at Rent-Trip is calculated as six days instead of seven: an economy car would cost from 13 800 ₽, an all-wheel-drive crossover — up to 39 000 ₽. This price includes OSAGO (compulsory third-party insurance) and vehicle preparation, while delivery terms and CASCO (comprehensive insurance) are specified in the contract.

Weekly rate: why you pay for 6 days

We include six paid days in a weekly rental: the seventh day is free. On the economy class, this gives a rate from 13 800 ₽ for seven days versus 16 100 ₽ if you count at the regular daily price of 2 300 ₽. The logic is simple: the longer the term, the lower the daily cost—with a monthly rental it drops even more noticeably, to 48 300 ₽ for 21 paid days. Our fleet on this page has 45 cars in eight classes, and for each class the weekly price is fixed—it does not vary by booking date. If you need a car for exactly a calendar week from Monday to Sunday, you still pay for six days, not seven.

What is included in the price and what is clarified separately

  • OSAGO: Compulsory third-party insurance (OSAGO) covers each vehicle by law — it is included in the rate.
  • CASCO (comprehensive insurance): Voluntary body insurance; its terms are set out in the contract.
  • Car delivery: We deliver the car across the capital, the region, and to four airports — the cost depends on the location and is indicated when booking.
  • Deposit and mileage limit: The card hold amount and daily mileage limit are set in the contract.
  • Child seat and additional equipment: Availability and price are confirmed upon order; if needed, we'll add it to the booking.

What cars are available for weekly rental in Moscow

Rent-Trip's fleet has 90 vehicles of eight classes; this page shows 45 cars actually available for long-term rental. For a week, people usually take an economy or comfort sedan, but if you are going south or out of town with your family, look at crossovers and station wagons: they have a larger boot and higher seating.

Economy: Lada Granta, Solaris, Rio — from 2 300 ₽ per day

Economy class is the most popular for weekly rental: the price is lower, and there are enough opportunities in Moscow and the region. The basic Lada Granta with manual transmission costs 2 300 ₽ per day, or 13 800 ₽ per week. An automatic on Solaris, Rio, or Vesta adds 300–400 ₽ to the daily rate. All economy sedans are petrol, 5-seat, with front-wheel drive. If you plan to drive a lot on the highway, take Rio or Solaris: the 123 hp engine is more confident when overtaking than the 90 hp in Granta. Fuel consumption for all models in this class is specified when booking.

Comfort and business: Octavia, K5, Mazda 6 — from 3 300 ₽

The Comfort class is chosen for long trips: for a week to Saint Petersburg or Kazan, the price difference with economy is about 6 000 ₽, while the level of sound insulation and seats is noticeably higher. Škoda Octavia with a 150 hp engine — 3 800 ₽ per day, Geely Emgrand — 3 300 ₽. This page also features business sedans: Kia K5 and Hyundai Sonata at 4 500 ₽, Mazda 6 at 4 300 ₽. If you are traveling with partners or planning meetings in the center — Moscow City and Patriarch's Ponds are within walking distance from parking lots, but the car itself should look appropriate. For trips of 600–700 km, choose cars with engines from 150 hp: a cruising speed of 130–140 km/h is achieved without strain.

Crossovers and all-wheel drive: Tiggo 7 Pro Max, Haval F7 - from 4 200 ₽

Crossovers rented for a week are about comfort on the highway and confidence on dirt roads to dachas in the Moscow region. Haval Jolion - 4 200 ₽ per day, Geely Coolray - 4 300 ₽. All-wheel drive is available on Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Max (4 900 ₽), Haval F7 (5 200 ₽) and Geely Atlas (5 300 ₽) - such cars are worth taking if you go to Kazan via the M-12 Vostok motorway or towards Vladimir, where there may be wet sections in the off-season. Ground clearance of crossovers is 180-200 mm - higher than that of sedans, so curbs and broken access roads are not a problem. Don't worry about the dimensions in the city center parking: parking sensors and a rear-view camera are available on all models from 4 200 ₽.

Estates and 7-seaters: Lada Largus — from 2 800 ₽

For a family with children or a trip to the dacha with lots of luggage, a station wagon is more practical than a sedan: the Lada Vesta SW Cross boot is 480 litres, the Largus 560. The seven-seat Lada Largus for 2 800 ₽ per day is the only car on this page with a third row of seats, accommodating two adults or three children. Fuel consumption at full load is specified in the rental agreement. For winter, station wagons are fitted with studded tyres, like the entire fleet — this is a legal requirement from December to February. If you need exactly a 7-seat car, check Largus availability when booking: there are fewer such cars in the fleet than sedans, and for the summer months they are booked in advance.

What documents are needed to rent a car for a week in Moscow

To rent a car for a week, you will need a minimum of paperwork: for a Russian citizen, a passport and a category B driving licence are sufficient. For a foreigner, the list is longer—a migration card, visa or residence permit are added, and sometimes a notarised translation of the licence. Below we break down both cases point by point, including nuances that come up when the car is handed over.

Documents for citizens of Russia

To rent a car for a week, a citizen of the Russian Federation needs two documents: a passport and a driving licence of category B. We do not require any certificates, registration, or second document—when booking at MAX or by phone, it is enough to name the model and dates, and at delivery show the originals. Driving experience and age affect the available car class: for economy the requirements are lower, for crossovers and business class—higher, exact conditions are specified in the contract.

The contract is drawn up on the main document, and the bank card for the deposit hold is also taken from it — the card must be in the name of the main driver. The hold amount depends on the car class and is specified in the contract; it is not charged but frozen for the duration of the trip. If a second driver will be behind the wheel, add them to the contract at pickup; their driving licence will also be needed.

Car rental for foreigners: driving licence, translation, migration card

A foreign guest needs four documents for a one-week trip in the capital: a foreign passport, migration card, visa or residence permit, and a driving licence from their country. There is a nuance with the licence: a licence issued in a state that has not signed the Vienna Convention on Road Traffic (e.g., China) is valid in Russia only with a notarized translation or together with an International Driving Permit—this is a requirement of Article 25 of Federal Law No. 196-FZ.

Licences from countries party to the Vienna Convention (almost all of Europe, most Asian and Latin American states) are valid without translation. The period for a foreigner is not limited to a week—you can also arrange for a month, the same package of documents. In our practice, the most frequent question is about translation: if in doubt, send a photo of your licence to MAX before delivery—we'll advise whether a notary is needed, it takes a couple of minutes.

Weekly car rental—trips out of town and toll roads

Seven-day rental is almost never just the capital: in our fleet, 45 cars from the 'weekly car rental' page are taken both for the Moscow region and for long-distance travel. Let's figure out who pays for toll sections, how much rides on the MSD and TsKAD cost, and where you can actually go for 7 days so the car pays off.

Toll roads: MSD, TsKAD, M-11, M-12 — who pays

Tolls on paid highways are paid by the renter — this rule applies in all capital rental companies, and we have it written in the rental agreement. On the Moscow High-Speed Diameter (MSD), travel outside peak hours is free, on weekdays from 7:00 to 11:00 and from 16:00 to 20:00 each of the 9 sections costs 19 ₽, transit without exit — 950 ₽. On the TsKAD the logic is similar: 19 ₽ per section during rush hour, the full circle — 171 ₽, free outside peak hours, transit also 950 ₽. The M-11 Neva motorway to Saint Petersburg and the M-12 Vostok motorway to Kazan are tolled along their entire length; a car for the full route Moscow — Kazan on the M-12 will cost 5 909 ₽. The transponder gives a discount of up to 25%, so on a long trip it pays off immediately.

Camera enforcement fines go to the car owner, i.e., the rental company—we reissue them to the renter by contract number. In the capital, cameras are densely placed: on the MKAD, Third Ring Road, and the Garden Ring, monitoring is almost continuous; exceeding the limit by 20–40 km/h is regularly recorded. Before a long trip, check your route against the road operator's current tolls—in 2026, toll costs rose by 8–10%, and this difference is noticeable on a 700-kilometer route.

Where to go for a week: Saint Petersburg, Kazan, the Golden Ring, Tula

  • Saint Petersburg: 700 km on the M-11 Neva motorway, about 7 hours en route — comfortable for Kia K5 or Mazda 6 with power reserve for overtaking.
  • Kazan: the route along the M-12 Vostok motorway takes about 8 hours; for such a distance, take an all-wheel-drive crossover — the Haval F7 or Geely Atlas hold the road more confidently.
  • The Golden Ring: Sergiev Posad, Pereslavl-Zalessky, Rostov Veliky, Yaroslavl, Suzdal, Vladimir — legs of 1–4 hours, even a Lada Granta at 2 300 ₽ per day will do.
  • Tula and Yasnaya Polyana: 2.5 hours along the M-2 or M-4 — a classic weekend trip in a Solaris or Rio.

On long distances, the weekly rate is significantly more profitable than the daily rate: we count 7 days as 6 days, so a Lada Vesta for a week will cost from 15 600 ₽ instead of 18 200 ₽ when paying for each day separately. In our fleet, for country routes, the Škoda Octavia is often taken — a liftback with a 568-liter trunk accommodates equipment for four people for the whole week. When booking, specify whether you need a transponder for toll sections — in cars we deliver on the M-11 and M-12, it is usually already installed, but it is better to confirm availability in advance.

Fines, parking, and winter rules when renting a car in Moscow

Seven-day rental almost always goes beyond simple city trips: overnight stays in the center, trips on toll roads, and if you take a car in winter, also seasonal tire requirements. Let's look at what fines are issued in the capital, how much parking costs on weekdays, and why winter tires are not an option but a legal obligation.

Camera fines: who pays

All traffic camera tickets come to the car owner, i.e., the rental company. We pass them on to the renter: the contract states that the driver is responsible for traffic violations during the rental period. You can pay the fine through Gosuslugi or by receipt—the key is to pay within 60 days, otherwise the case is handed to bailiffs and the amount increases by an enforcement fee. Before departure, check if there are any old tickets on the car—in our practice there have been cases where a driver received someone else's fines from previous periods.

Parking in the center: rates and fine for non-payment

Paid parking in the center of the capital is in effect from 8:00 to 21:00; an hour costs 380–800 ₽ depending on the zone; at night — 200 ₽/hour. For non-payment, you will be fined 5 000 ₽, and if the car obstructs traffic or is parked on a lawn, it will be towed: 8 500–12 450 ₽ for the tow plus storage at a special lot. Before parking, check the signs: within the Garden Ring rates are higher than beyond the Third Ring Road, and on many streets parking is free on weekends. Payment — via the app or parking meter, linking your license plate.

Winter tires and seasonal rules

From December to February, by law, winter tires are mandatory — this is a requirement of the technical regulation, and the fine for violating it is 500 ₽. The entire Rent-Trip fleet is changed seasonally: in summer cars run on summer tires, in winter on winter tires; studded tires are prohibited from June to August. You can check which tires are on a specific car when booking — this is specified in the contract.

What to check before departure

  • Fines: Check with the rental company whether there are any unpaid fines on the car — it is difficult to dispute others' fines later.
  • Parking: download the payment app and check the zone before leaving the car.
  • Tires: When traveling in winter, make sure the car has winter tyres—this is not just about fines but also safety on snow.
  • Toll roads: if you plan to use the MSD or TsKAD ring, check whether the car has a transponder — without it, the toll is higher.

Delivery of a rented car in Moscow and to airports

Rent-Trip has no physical office, and this is a deliberate decision: we deliver the car to where the client needs it — home, office, airport, or railway station. Delivery works across the capital, within the Moscow region, to all four airports, and to ten railway stations. Delivery conditions are fixed in the rental agreement and clarified when booking via MAX or by phone.

Delivery within Moscow and the region

Within Moscow: we deliver the car to any district — from Khamovniki and Patriki to Strogino and Yasenevo. The delivery address is agreed upon at booking, the exact time — an hour before the meeting. Within the region: we operate within the Moscow region — Khimki, Mytishchi, Balashikha, Odintsovo, Krasnogorsk and other cities within half an hour to an hour from the MKAD ring road. No office required: handing over documents and keys takes 15–20 minutes, you inspect the car and record its condition in the acceptance report. Convenient time: delivery is possible throughout the day; night transfer is confirmed at booking. Parking near home: if there is no free space in the courtyard, we agree on the nearest paid parking — its costs are specified in the rental agreement.

To the airport: Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo, Vnukovo, Zhukovsky

  • Sheremetyevo: north of the capital, about 30 km from the MKAD ring road via the M-11 or Leningradskoye Shosse. Convenient for Aeroflot flights and international destinations.
  • Domodedovo: south, about 45 km along Kashirskoye Highway or M-4. A major hub for domestic and short-haul flights.
  • Vnukovo: southwest, about 28 km along the Kievskoye or Borovskoye Highway. Closest to the center, popular with business passengers.
  • Zhukovsky: southeast, roughly 40 km along Novoryazanskoye Highway. Chosen for low-cost carrier flights.

We meet the client in the arrivals area with a sign and hand over the car in the terminal parking lot—so you leave the airport in your own vehicle instead of waiting in a taxi queue. On the return flight, you leave the car in the same parking lot, and we pick it up ourselves. The cost of delivery to airports and parking fees are specified in the rental agreement.

Delivery to railway stations and for intercity trips

We also deliver a car to the capital's ten railway stations — Leningradsky, Yaroslavsky, Kazansky, Kursky, Kievsky, Belorussky, Paveletsky, and others — by the required time. This is convenient if you arrive in the city by train and immediately plan to leave the city: for example, to Saint Petersburg via the M-11 or to Tula via the M-2. The car will be delivered to the train's arrival — without rushing around the city with a suitcase. Access to the stations has its own navigation, so we clarify the meeting point during booking. For a week-long period, cars of comfort class — Škoda Octavia or Kia K5 — are more often taken so that the trip along the highway is calm.

How the return of a rented car in Moscow works after a week

Returning the car after a week-long rental takes 15–20 minutes: we accept the vehicle where it was handed over—at home, at the office, at the airport, or at the station. During the inspection, we check the body condition against the acceptance report, and the fuel and mileage readings against those recorded at the time of delivery. The return conditions, including the time and possible fees, are specified in the rental agreement.

What we check upon return

  • Body and interior: we inspect for new damage, compare with photos in the acceptance report — scratches and chips are recorded separately.
  • Fuel: The car must be returned with the same fuel level as at pickup; if you filled less, the difference will be charged according to the price list.
  • Interior and trunk: we check that no personal belongings, trash, or foreign objects are left after the trip.
  • Documents and keys: we check the availability of car documents and the completeness of keys — the handover procedure is specified in the rental contract.
  • Fines and toll roads: We are checking whether any camera fines have arrived for the rental days — they are reassigned to the renter.

Return at the airport or at home—which is more convenient

If you're flying out on the day your rental ends, the most convenient option is to leave the car at the terminal parking lot—Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo, Vnukovo, or Zhukovsky. We pick up the car ourselves after your flight, so you don't have to wait for a meeting. For returns in the city, the handover follows the same scenario as delivery: you agree on a time in MAX, we arrive, inspect the car, and sign the acceptance report. In our experience, most clients on weekly rentals choose airport return—it saves on a taxi to the terminal and eliminates the issue of parking your personal car during a business trip. It's best to confirm the exact return time a day in advance so we can factor it into our delivery schedule.

Typical mistakes when returning

  • Late return without notice: each hour of delay is charged according to the rate specified in the contract — let MAX know if you are running late.
  • Dirty cabin after a trip with children or animals: heavy soiling may incur cleaning costs — conditions are in the contract.
  • Loss of keys or documents: the procedure and possible costs in this case are specified in the rental agreement.
  • Forgotten items: check the glove box and trunk before handing over — it's harder to return something forgotten than to take it right away.
  • Unpaid fines: check the notices via government services before returning the car, so you don't have to pay them later with a fee.
