The terms of CASCO (comprehensive insurance), the amount of the security deposit, and the mileage limit are specified in the contract—they differ for each model. If you rent a car for several days, it is more profitable not to calculate by the daily rate: a week is charged as six days (from 13 800 ₽), a month as 21 days (from 48 300 ₽). The longer the period, the lower the effective price per day—when booking through MAX, the manager will immediately offer the best option for your period. The price is also affected by the class: for an all-wheel-drive Tank 300 or a spacious Hyundai Staria for 9 seats, the rate is higher than for a city sedan—this is built into the manufacturers' tariffs and the cost of maintenance.

The right car for daily rental is determined by the task: a sedan for business trips around the city, a crossover for a dacha or the Moscow region, a minivan for a family, and a van for transporting goods. Besides the class, pay attention to the gearbox: the fleet has automatic and manual. For driving with frequent stops in traffic jams on the MKAD and in the center, automatic is more comfortable — most cars at Rent-Trip are with automatic transmission. If you plan a route to Saint Petersburg along the M-11 Neva (~700 km, about 7 hours), choose a car with cruise control and a petrol engine — there are enough gas stations on the toll road, and fuel consumption of Comfort-class sedans is 15–20% lower than that of body-on-frame SUVs.

Fuel also affects the budget: diesel GAZelle Next and Hyundai Staria are more economical on long routes, while gasoline is more practical for the Moscow region. When booking via MAX or by phone, the manager will clarify the task and suggest which model in stock is suitable in terms of capacity and drive — for example, for a trip for 7 people, a minivan will be needed, not a station wagon.

When the car is needed for a week or more, the daily price decreases: we count a week as six days, and a month as 21 days. Economy class for a week starts from 13 800 ₽, for a month—from 48 300 ₽. The longer you keep the car, the lower the effective daily rate—and it remains reserved for you, not booked by other customers.

How the price for a long term is formed

• Week: Cost = daily rate × 6. A Lada Granta at 2 300 ₽/day will come to 13 800 ₽ for seven days—one day is essentially free.
• Month: Cost = daily rate × 21. The same economy for 30 days is 48 300 ₽ instead of 69 000 ₽ at the regular daily rate.
• Business and premium: Toyota Camry for 6 500 ₽/day for a month — 136 500 ₽, which is noticeably lower than paying each day separately.
• Vehicle recording: For a long-term rental, the car is not assigned to other orders; the class and model remain yours for the entire period.

For trips of 10–14 days, it is more convenient to calculate a week plus several days: for example, a Kia Rio for 10 days—that is 13 800 ₽ for the first six days + four days at 2 700 ₽, totaling 24 600 ₽. Such a breakdown is often more profitable than two full weeks if the car is not needed every day.

When long-term rental is truly advantageous

In our practice, Rent-Trip long-term rental is most often chosen for three scenarios: a business trip with travel around the Moscow region, repair of one's own car, and waiting for a new car at the dealer. In all cases, a car is needed daily — and then a weekly or monthly rate noticeably saves your budget.

For weekend trips out of town, long-term rental doesn't make sense: it's cheaper to rent a car for two days at the standard rate. But if you're going to Saint Petersburg via the M-11 and plan to stay for a week — a monthly rate for seven days isn't needed; a weekly rate is enough: 13 800 ₽ for economy vs. 16 100 ₽ for seven regular days.

Before booking for a week or more, clarify via MAX or by phone what terms apply to the selected model: the possibility of replacing the car with another in the same class is confirmed at booking. Specific terms for deposit and mileage for long-term rentals are stated in the contract — they differ from daily rates.

Toll roads and parking — nuances of daily car rental in Moscow

Daily car rental in the capital is not only the rate and delivery of the car, but also the costs of toll sections and parking. This section provides current tariffs for the MSD (Moscow High-Speed Diameter), TsKAD ring and toll motorways, as well as parking rules in the centre, so that the trip does not end with an unexpected fine.

Toll sections within the city: MSD and TsKAD

The Moscow High-Speed Diameter and the TsKAD ring are paid inner-city highways that are often faster than free alternatives. A trip along the MSD costs 19 ₽ per section during peak hours (weekdays from 7:00 to 11:00 and from 16:00 to 20:00), and is free outside peak and on weekends. A transit trip along the entire diameter without exits costs 950 ₽. TsKAD rates are similar: 19 ₽ per section during peak, the entire circle is 171 ₽, and free outside peak.

Payment is automatic — by licence plate or via a transponder, which gives a discount of up to 25%. A fine for non-payment goes to the car owner, i.e., the rental company, and is re-invoiced to the renter. In our practice, this is one of the frequent expense items that is easy to avoid: when handing over the car, we remind you to pay in the operator's app within the time specified on the road's website.

Toll roads outside the city: M-11 and M-12

For trips outside the capital, take into account toll roads. The M-11 Neva motorway to Saint Petersburg is tolled along its entire length—about 700 km and about 7 hours of travel. The M-12 Vostok motorway to Kazan will cost a car 5 909 ₽ for the entire route. Both highways accept payment by plate or transponder.

Parking in the center: rates and fines

Paid parking in the center operates from 8:00 to 21:00 and costs 380–800 ₽/hour depending on the zone, at night — 200 ₽/hour. The fine for non-payment is 5 000 ₽, towing — 8 500–12 450 ₽ plus storage. On Patriki or Chistye Prudy, it is easier to leave the car in a paid lot than to look for a free spot — saving 200 ₽ will result in a 5 000 ₽ fine.

Documents and requirements for daily car rental in Moscow

For daily car rental, a citizen of Russia needs only a passport and a category B driving licence—this is enough to sign a contract and get the keys. In our practice, most clients complete the paperwork in 15–20 minutes: the procedure for checking documents and handing over the car is clarified when booking. For foreign guests the list is longer, and it is worth preparing in advance, especially if you plan a trip right after arriving at Sheremetyevo or Domodedovo.

• Citizens of the Russian Federation: a passport and a category B driving licence. The age and driving experience requirements depend on the car class — exact values are specified in the rental agreement.
• Foreign nationals: international passport, migration card, visa or residence permit, as well as a national driving licence.
• Licences outside the Vienna Convention: if the licence was issued, for example, in China, it is valid only with a notarized translation into Russian or with an International Driving Permit — this is a requirement of Article 25 of Federal Law No. 196.
• Bank card: for the insurance deposit, a card in the primary driver's name is required; the hold amount is specified in the rental contract.

Additionally, note that camera fines come to the vehicle owner, i.e., the rental company, and are re-invoiced to the renter — this is standard practice for the entire Moscow market, not a feature of Rent-Trip. We provide photos of the violation and the receipt; payment must be made within the set deadline, otherwise penalties accrue. Toll roads — MSD, TsKAD ring, M-11, and M-12 — are also paid by the renter, either via a transponder in the car or by license plate within the road operator's timeframe.
