Rent a Ford in Moscow: one model, many tasks
Commercial van Ford Transit (3 seats, 2.0 L diesel, manual, front-wheel drive) for rent in Moscow from 6 000 ₽ per day. The Rent-Trip fleet has 90 vehicles in 8 classes, delivery in Moscow and the region, to airports and railway stations.
Ford Transit for rent—what kind of vehicle it is and who it suits
The Ford Transit in our configuration is a commercial van with three seats, a 2.0 L diesel with 130 hp, manual transmission, and front-wheel drive. Such a car is taken when a working tool for cargo transportation is needed, not a premium sedan.
Ford Transit specifications at Rent-Trip
| Parameter | Value |
|---|---|
| Class | Commercial, van |
| Seats | 3 |
| Engine | Diesel, 2.0 L, 130 hp |
| Transmission | Manual |
| Drive | Front-wheel |
| Cost | 6 000 ₽ per day |
In our fleet, there are 90 cars in eight classes, and the Transit is one of the few models that we keep specifically in the cargo configuration. Availability of a specific model for the desired dates is confirmed at booking.
What a three-seater van is convenient for
- Cargo compartment: behind the seat backs — a fully enclosed volume for transporting furniture, building materials, or commercial cargo.
- Three passenger seats: The driver and two passengers travel in the same cabin; there is no separate cab with a hatch to the cargo area.
- Diesel engine: fuel consumption is lower than that of gasoline vans of similar size, which is noticeable on daily routes around the capital and the region.
- Front-wheel drive: on wet asphalt and in winter slush, the car behaves more predictably than rear-wheel-drive competitors.
- Manual: Drivers with experience get full control over traction, which is important when loaded to the roof.
A three-seat van suits teams that go to a site with tools and materials. Specific trim conditions and the possibility of model substitution are agreed upon at booking.
How much does it cost to rent a Ford Transit in Moscow
In this section — Rent-Trip rates for Ford Transit and what is included in the price. Car rental prices depend on the duration: daily, weekly, or monthly. We'll review each option and create a table so you can see the total amount at a glance.
Rent-Trip rates for Ford Transit
| Rental duration | Price | What is the cost per day |
|---|---|---|
| 1 day | 6 000 ₽ | 6 000 ₽ |
| Week (7 days) | from 36 000 ₽ | from 5 143 ₽ |
| Month (21 days) | from 126 000 ₽ | from 5 000 ₽ |
Weekly and monthly rates are more profitable than daily — with long-term use of the van this is a noticeable difference. If the car is needed for a month, the total amount will be lower than paying for each day separately. For comparison: 30 days at the daily rate would cost 180 000 ₽, while the monthly rate is from 126 000 ₽.
What is included in the rental cost of a Ford Transit
The rental price includes the basics without which operating a van is impossible. At Rent-Trip we include them in the rate so you don't pay anything beyond the quoted amount.
- OSAGO: Compulsory third-party insurance (OSAGO) covers the entire period — it is a legal requirement, not an option.
- Seasonal tires: In winter, from December to February, the van is fitted with winter tires; in summer, summer tires; the changeover happens by season.
- Car delivery: we bring the car within the capital and the region, to four airports and train stations — the address is specified when booking.
- Technical condition: The van is being prepared before delivery: brakes, lights, fluid levels, and tire pressure are checked.
CASCO terms, the hold amount on the card and the mileage limit are specified in the rental agreement — check them when booking. The full list of rental terms is also agreed upon when booking.
What documents are needed to rent a Transit
To rent a Ford Transit, you will need a passport and a category B driving licence — this is enough for a Russian citizen. For a foreign renter, the list is wider: a foreign passport with a visa or residence permit, a migration card, and national driving licence. At Rent-Trip, we check the documents when delivering the car, so it is better to prepare the full package in advance.
For citizens of the Russian Federation
- Passport: The main document confirming the identity of the renter.
- Driving licence: category B grants access to driving the Transit; experience and age affect the terms — exact requirements are specified in the contract.
- Bank card: it is issued in the name of the main driver and is used for the security hold — the blocked amount is fixed in the agreement.
For foreign renters
- International passport and visa or residence permit: confirm the legality of stay in Russia.
- Migration card: Mandatory for those who entered on a visa; without it, we do not conclude the contract.
- National driving licence: if the issuing country has not signed the Vienna Convention on Road Traffic, a notarized translation or an International Driving Permit will be needed — this is a requirement of Article 25 of Federal Law No. 196.
Insurance and card hold
Each car in our fleet is insured under OSAGO (compulsory third-party insurance) — this is mandatory coverage by law for all registered cars. The terms of CASCO (comprehensive insurance), if issued for a specific car, are specified in the contract. The amount of the insurance hold on the bank card is also fixed in the agreement — we do not hide this amount but state it individually when booking.
Before delivering a Transit, a Rent-Trip manager contacts the renter via MAX or by phone and clarifies the list of documents for the specific situation. If you plan a trip along the Golden Ring or to Saint Petersburg, let us know in advance — for long routes, a weekly rate from 36 000 ₽ is often more convenient than daily payment.
Delivery of the rented Ford Transit in Moscow and to airports
Rent-Trip has no physical office where you need to go for keys: we bring the Ford Transit to wherever is convenient for the client — across the capital, to the region, to airports and railway stations. Handover takes 15–20 minutes: we inspect the car together, record the condition in an act, and sign documents. Delivery address and time are agreed upon booking so that the car awaits you at the right point.
Four airports and railway stations
- Sheremetyevo: north, about 30 km from the MKAD ring road via the M-11 or Leningradskoye Shosse; we deliver to Terminals B and C.
- Domodedovo: south, about 45 km along Kashirskoye Highway or M-4; the car is waiting near the arrivals area.
- Vnukovo: southwest, about 28 km along the Kiev or Borovskoye highway; we hand over at Terminal A.
- Zhukovsky: southeast, about 40 km along Novoryazanskoye Highway; we meet at the entrance to the airport terminal.
- Railway stations: We bring Transit to Leningradsky, Yaroslavsky, Kazansky, Kursky, Kievsky, Belorussky, and Paveletsky—to any of the ten.
Delivery to the airport is convenient when you need to transport cargo or building materials right after the flight. We deliver the car to the terminal, and upon completion, we pick it up from the same place: delivery terms and list of zones are specified in the rental agreement. If the flight is delayed or arrives at night, the procedure in such a situation is agreed upon when booking.
How the car handover works
At pickup, we show the documents for the Ford Transit, inspect the body together for chips and scratches, and check the fuel readings. The acceptance report records the condition — this protects both parties upon return. Then you sign the contract, and we hand over the keys and vehicle documents.
You can contact us via the MAX messenger and phone: a manager will answer questions and confirm delivery details. For foreign clients, the handover is the same, but you must have a passport, migration card, and visa or residence permit with you - the full list of documents is clarified when booking.
Winter tires, toll roads, and fines when renting
From December to February, winter tires are mandatory by law in Moscow and the region—this also applies to rental cars. We seasonally fit the entire fleet, so the Transit arrives already prepared. We'll separately cover who pays for the MSD (Moscow High-Speed Diameter) and TsKAD ring and how camera fines come.
Winter tires by law
From 1 December to 28 February, driving a car without winter tyres is prohibited by the technical regulation TR CU 018/2011. Studded tyres, in turn, cannot be used from June to August. A violation results in a fine of 500 ₽, but the main thing is not the fine but safety: on snow and slush, summer tyres lose grip already at 40 km/h.
Our fleet is shod in advance — the car arrives on winter tyres if the season requires it. In summer, from June to August, the opposite: studded tyres are forbidden, and the Transit has summer wheels. In winter outside the city, on the M-11 Neva motorway to Saint Petersburg or M-12 Vostok motorway to Kazan, roads are cleared, but on secondary routes in the Moscow region snowpack persists for days — factor this into your travel time.
MSD, TsKAD ring, M-11, M-12: who pays
Toll sections are paid for by the renter—this is stated in the contract. There are two payment options: a transponder in the car or registering the license plate on the road operator's website.
| Road | Rate for a passenger car | How to pay |
|---|---|---|
| MSD (Moscow High-Speed Diameter) | 19 ₽ per section during peak (weekdays 7:00–11:00 and 16:00–20:00), free off-peak and on weekends | Transponder or by car registration number |
| TsKAD ring | 19 ₽ per section during peak, full circle 171 ₽, free off-peak | Transponder or by car registration number |
| M-11 Neva motorway | Toll throughout, Moscow — Saint Petersburg | Transponder or by car registration number |
| M-12 Vostok motorway | 5 909 ₽ for the entire Moscow — Kazan route (class 1) | Transponder or by car registration number |
The transponder gives a discount of up to 25% on tariffs. Transit on the MSD or TsKAD without exiting is 950 ₽, which is convenient if you are traveling from one region to another through the Moscow region. Tariffs have increased by 8–10%; calculate the exact figures for a specific trip on the operator's website before departure.
Fines from cameras
Cameras in the capital record speeding, driving on a dedicated lane, and lane marking violations. The procedure for paying fines and the deadlines for re-invoicing are specified in the rental agreement.
Check for fines within two weeks after returning the car: sometimes the notification letter takes 10–14 days. If you see a fine on our car during your rental dates, contact us; the procedure is agreed upon when booking.
Where to go in a rental Ford Transit from Moscow
A three-seat van with a large cargo area is not only a working tool for moving but also a practical car for a trip out of town with the whole family or company. The Transit is equally convenient for moving furniture to a new apartment and for getting to Suzdal or Yaroslavl without cramming into a sedan's boot.
Moving and cargo transportation across the capital and region
Apartment move: a sofa, wardrobe, and household appliances are loaded into the cargo area of the Transit — the body dimensions and permissible load are clarified when booking. Summer cottage season: we transport seedlings, garden furniture, and building materials for a country house — three passenger seats remain in the cabin for helpers. Purchasing materials: drywall sheets, boards, and plumbing go in the van, not in a station wagon — the maximum cargo length should be clarified when booking. Body dimensions are clarified when booking. Commercial tasks: delivering orders around the capital and region, mobile trading, or transporting tools for a team of craftsmen.
The terms of using a van for a move within Moscow or the nearby Moscow region are specified in the rental agreement. The possibility of transporting furniture and appliances, as well as requirements for cargo packing, are agreed upon when booking.
Saint Petersburg, the Golden Ring, Kazan
A diesel 2.0 L engine with 130 hp and a manual gearbox make the Transit predictable on the highway. In a rented van, it is convenient to go to Saint Petersburg along the M-11 Neva motorway — about 700 km and 7 hours of travel; to the Golden Ring via Sergiev Posad, Pereslavl-Zalessky, Rostov Veliky and Yaroslavl — from 1 to 4 hours one way; to Kazan along the M-12 Vostok motorway — about 8 hours. For a weekend trip, Tula with Yasnaya Polyana is suitable, a two and a half hour drive, or Kolomna — about two hours along the M-5. The cost of travel on toll roads and the calculation procedure are specified in the rental agreement.
Typical mistakes when renting a Ford Transit in Moscow
Even experienced drivers overlook details when renting a commercial van that later backfire. Let's look at common mistakes and how to avoid them when renting.
What to look for when picking up the car
- Camera fines: they are charged to the owner, and are re-invoiced to the renter — the payment procedure is specified in the rental agreement.
- Winter tires: From December to February, it is mandatory by law; seasonal tire changes in our fleet are done on time, and details are clarified when booking.
- Documents: The list of required documents for Russian citizens and foreigners is agreed upon when booking.
Before signing the agreement, verify the condition of the body and fuel — this will protect you upon return. The terms of CASCO (comprehensive insurance) and the hold are specified in the rental agreement, so read the agreement carefully before receiving the keys.
A common mistake is not considering that the Ford Transit with a manual transmission takes getting used to. Gear shifting and the van's dimensions feel different from a passenger car, so the first minutes behind the wheel should be spent adapting in an empty parking lot rather than immediately driving into heavy traffic on the Third Ring Road. At handover, we point out the driving peculiarities, but also plan your route in advance.
Trip planning mistakes
Many renters forget about toll roads. If you are going out of town, budget for a transponder or payment by licence plate: the M-11 to Saint Petersburg and the M-12 to Kazan are toll roads along their entire length, while transit on the MSD or TsKAD ring without exiting will cost 950 ₽. Payment terms and re-invoicing deadlines are specified in the rental agreement.
- Parking in the center: On weekdays from 8:00 to 21:00, an hour costs 380–800 ₽, night rate — 200 ₽; a fine for non-payment reaches 5 000 ₽, towing — 8 500–12 450 ₽ plus storage.
- Rental period: The daily rate of 6 000 ₽ is beneficial for 1–2 days, but for a weekly rental from 36 000 ₽ and a monthly one from 126 000 ₽, the price per day is lower — calculate in advance.
- Insurance: OSAGO (compulsory third-party insurance) covers every registered vehicle by law, while CASCO (comprehensive insurance) terms are stated in the rental agreement — check the details before signing.
In our practice, most disputes arise from careless reading of the contract rather than unforeseen circumstances. When booking a Ford Transit at Rent-Trip, a manager in MAX or by phone will go over the key terms in advance so you know all the details before the car is delivered in Moscow or the region.
