In the Rent-Trip fleet, two vans are available for rental: the GAZelle Next and GAZelle NN. Both are diesel, manual, rear-wheel drive, and seat three: driver and two passengers. The difference between the models is generation and price: Next starts from 4 800 ₽ per day, NN from 5 500 ₽. We deliver vehicles within the capital, the region, and to four airports; there is no physical office.

GAZelle Next and NN: van specifications

Both GAZelles are of the same class and have identical technical characteristics: a 2.8-litre diesel producing 149 hp, manual transmission, rear-wheel drive. The difference between Next and NN is in the generation: the NN is built on a new platform, so it costs 700 ₽ more. In our practice, both vans work equally reliably for moves and deliveries, and the choice often comes down to budget. If you need to carry cargo daily, take the Next – the price difference over a week will be 4 200 ₽ with the same payload capacity.

What to choose for a move or cargo transportation

• Apartment move: GAZelle Next is a van for furniture and boxes; cargo volume is confirmed when booking.
• Delivery of furniture or building materials: GAZelle NN is a new platform with a smoother ride, important for fragile cargo.
• Transport within the region: Both models, but outside the MKAD ring road customers more often choose the Next — a day is cheaper, and mileage to the Moscow region is not critical.
• Long-term rental: for a week, Next comes out to from 28 800 ₽, for a month — from 100 800 ₽; with such rental rates, the benefit is more obvious on the higher-end model.

In my opinion, for a one-time cargo transportation, overpaying for NN is not worth it — Next will handle the same tasks. But if the car is needed for a week or more, the difference of 700 ₽ per day dissolves in the overall budget, and the new generation becomes preferable. Exact mileage and delivery conditions are specified in the rental contract.

Which GAZelles are available for rent in Moscow

Two GAZ models are available for rent: the GAZelle Next and GAZelle NN, both in van body style. We keep them in the commercial class because these vehicles cover most moving and cargo transport tasks. They differ only in price and generation; the technical part is identical: diesel, manual, rear-wheel drive.

GAZelle Next and NN: van specifications

Both models are three-seat vans with a 2.8 L diesel engine (149 hp), manual gearbox, and rear-wheel drive. This configuration provides low-end torque, which is important when loaded to the roof, and moderate fuel consumption on the highway. The difference between the vehicles is in the generation and price.

What to choose for a move or cargo transportation

If the task is an apartment move within the capital, the difference between the Next and the NN won't affect the outcome: the cargo volume and load capacity are the same, and the manual transmission with diesel behaves predictably both in traffic jams on the Third Ring Road and on the MKAD ring road. Both vehicles are rear-wheel drive, so when loading, watch the weight distribution: heavy items closer to the cab.

GAZelle Next for 4 800 ₽/day is a sensible choice when the cargo is standard and you want to save money. GAZelle NN for 5 500 ₽/day is a new-generation vehicle with a more modern cab; it is chosen when the driver spends the whole day behind the wheel and seating comfort matters more. If you plan a route along the M-11 to Saint Petersburg or along the Golden Ring, the extra cost for the NN is justified—on long hauls, the difference in ergonomics is felt by the end of the day. In our fleet, both models undergo preparation before each delivery, so the vehicle's condition does not depend on which one you choose.

GAZ rental prices and rental formats

The cost of renting a GAZ in Moscow depends on the model and term: GAZelle Next is 4 800 ₽ per day, GAZelle NN is 5 500 ₽ per day, while a week will cost from 28 800 ₽, and a month from 100 800 ₽. At Rent-Trip, pricing is transparent: it includes OSAGO (compulsory third-party insurance), and the terms of CASCO (comprehensive insurance), deposit, and mileage limit are specified in the rental agreement.

Daily, weekly and monthly rates

• Daily rate: suitable for a one-time move — relocating an apartment or delivering a large purchase from a store on the outskirts of the capital.
• Weekly format: More profitable in terms of price per day; convenient when you need a car for several days: a phased move or a trip along the Golden Ring.
• Monthly rental: The lowest daily rate; taken for renovations, small businesses, or when you haven't yet bought your own GAZelle.

At Rent-Trip we count a week as six days, a month as 21 days, so the total is easy to estimate in advance. For a long rental, we hand over the van with a full tank and a checked condition—our delivery within the city is included in the format. The exact terms for extension and return are specified in the rental agreement, so there are no surprises on the spot.

Can I rent for a few hours?

Short-term rental of a GAZelle for 2–4 hours is a question we are asked most often when you need to transport a sofa or pick up building materials. Hourly delivery is possible, but the format is specified when booking through MAX or by phone — for short orders we select a free van in the desired district of the capital.

In our practice, most clients prefer the daily rate, even if the work takes 3–4 hours: you don't have to adapt to a strict return deadline and can unload calmly. However, the rental contract specifies terms for lateness and extension — if you are stuck in traffic on the Third Ring Road, it is easier to notify in advance. In my opinion, for a move from Khamovniki to Mitino, a day is more than enough, but for deliveries to several addresses in the center, consider the hourly option.

Documents for renting a GAZelle for citizens and foreigners

To rent a GAZelle in Moscow, a Russian citizen only needs a passport and a category B driving licence — we check both documents when delivering the car. Driving experience and age restrictions depend on the vehicle class; exact terms are specified in the contract. We deliver the van to a convenient location in the capital or to the airport, so original documents will be needed when you meet the manager, not when booking via MAX.

What driving licence is needed to drive a GAZelle

• Category B: An open category entitles you to drive a GAZelle Next and NN — both models belong to category B, weighing up to 3.5 tons.
• Driving experience: The minimum driving experience for commercial vans is higher than for passenger cars — the specific requirements are stated in the contract.
• Age: Age restrictions for the renter are set for each vehicle category; exact figures are in the contract.
• Document check: When delivering the car, the manager checks the passport and driving licence against the booking details; this takes 5–7 minutes.

What a foreign renter needs

For citizens of other countries, the list of documents is broader: a foreign passport with a visa or residence permit, a migration card, and a national driving licence. If the licence is issued in a country that has not signed the Vienna Convention on Road Traffic—for example, China—a notarized translation of the licence or an International Driving Permit is required (Article 25 of Federal Law No. 196-FZ). Booking requires a bank card in the name of the main driver—the security deposit is charged to it, and the amount is specified in the contract. In our practice, clients from Europe and Asia most often take a GAZelle for moving or furniture delivery, and the full set of documents takes no more than 15 minutes during handover. We recommend sending scans of your documents to MAX in advance—the manager will check them before the meeting and advise if anything is missing.

Trips beyond the MKAD ring road in a rented GAZelle

Toll roads: MSD, TsKAD, M-11, M-12 — rates and transponder

• MSD: 9 sections, 19 ₽ per section during peak hours (weekdays 7:00–11:00 and 16:00–20:00), free outside peak and on weekends; transit without exit — 950 ₽.
• TsKAD ring: 19 ₽ per section during peak, full circle 171 ₽, free off-peak; transit 950 ₽.
• M-11 Neva motorway: Toll road for the entire length Moscow – Saint Petersburg, ~700 km and about 7 hours of travel.
• M-12 Vostok: a passenger car (class 1) 5 909 ₽ for the entire route to Kazan, ~8 hours.
• Transponder: Gives up to 25% discount on the MSD (Moscow High-Speed Diameter) and the TsKAD ring; tariffs have increased by 8–10%.

We hand out each GAZelle with a transponder, and the renter pays for travel on the M-11 and M-12 using the car's license plate within the road operator's deadline. Fines from cameras go to the owner—the rental company—and we pass them on to the renter. The toll is not included in the price and is clarified when booking along with the other contract terms.

Where to go: Tula, Kolomna, the Golden Ring

With a GAZelle, it is convenient to plan routes on asphalt — off-road excursions are prohibited by the contract. Rear-wheel drive and manual transmission behave predictably on dry surfaces, but on dirt roads, a van with cargo will require caution, so stay on highways.

• Tula and Yasnaya Polyana: ~2.5 hours along the M-2 or M-4 — gingerbread, the weapons museum, and Tolstoy's estate in one day.
• Kolomna: ~2 hours via the M-5 — the Kremlin, the pastila museum, and the Moscow River embankment.
• The Golden Ring: Sergiev Posad, Pereslavl-Zalessky, Rostov Veliky, Yaroslavl, Suzdal, Vladimir — 1 to 4 hours to each city, convenient to split over 2–3 days.
• Saint Petersburg: via M-11 Neva motorway — ~700 km, about 7 hours en route; the van is taken to carry belongings or buy goods from suppliers.

In winter, from December to February, cars have winter tires — this is a legal requirement, and our fleet is switched seasonally. In summer, studded tires cannot be used. For flat suburban terrain, allow 10–15 minutes more than the navigator shows: on the M-11 and M-12, gas stations and rest areas are every 30–50 km, but exiting to a gas station near the MSD during rush hour adds a queue.

GAZelle rental with delivery across Moscow and to airports

We deliver a rented GAZelle across the capital, within the Moscow region, and to four local airports—we have no physical office, so the car comes to wherever is convenient for you. This is a standard part of the Rent-Trip service: delivery terms and cost are fixed in the rental contract and confirmed when booking via MAX or by phone. The van is delivered clean, fueled, and with verified AdBlue levels—in commercial use, a diesel GAZelle without this fluid stalls after a couple of hundred kilometers.

Delivery to Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo, Vnukovo, and Zhukovsky

• Sheremetyevo: North of the capital, about 30 km from the MKAD ring road via the M-11 or Leningradskoye Shosse — convenient for flights from terminals B and C.
• Domodedovo: south direction, about 45 km along the Kashirskoye highway or M-4 — the farthest of the airports, allow extra time.
• Vnukovo: southwest, about 28 km along the Kievskoye or Borovskoye Highway — quick access to the M-3 and then south.
• Zhukovsky: southeast, approximately 40 km along Novoryazanskoye Highway — the nearest option for low-cost and cargo flights.

We will coordinate the delivery time with your departure: if the flight is at night, we will bring the car at the right hour, not when the office opens—since we don't have one. At the airport we meet in the parking lot near the terminal, sign the acceptance act, and you drive away. We also handle the return delivery to the departure terminal—message us in MAX a day in advance, and the van will be waiting at the entrance.

Car pickup at railway stations — terms in the contract

Ten Moscow railway stations — Leningradsky, Yaroslavsky, Kazansky, Kursky, Kievsky, Belorussky, Paveletsky and others — are included in our delivery area. We bring the car to the desired entrance, usually from the side of the square or the station parking lot, so you don't have to carry your luggage through an underpass. The exact meeting point and time are agreed upon when booking — as specified in the contract.

If you arrive in the capital by train and immediately plan a move or cargo transportation, delivery to the station saves a day: no need to go to the office, do paperwork, and return for your belongings. When ordering for a week or longer, the daily cost decreases — daily, a GAZelle Next costs 4 800 ₽, and when renting for seven days or more, the price is recalculated at the weekly rate from 28 800 ₽.

Insurance and fines when renting GAZ

Each van in our fleet is insured under OSAGO (compulsory third-party insurance) — this is a mandatory condition for registering a car, and the terms of CASCO (comprehensive insurance) are specified in the contract. Fines from cameras are sent to the car owner, i.e., the rental company, and are reissued to the renter. Let's look at what the law covers and what the driver is responsible for.

OSAGO and CASCO: what is covered by law

OSAGO is the only insurance guarantee that applies to every vehicle in Russia by law. It covers damage that the driver of a rented GAZelle caused to third parties, but not the repair of the van itself. CASCO terms — the list of risks, the amount of the unconditional deductible, and the payment procedure — vary by rental company, so they are fixed in the contract. At Rent-Trip, both GAZelles — Next and NN — go on the line only with valid policies; we check this before delivery. If an accident occurs, call us by phone or in MAX — we will advise which documents to collect for the insurer.

Fines from cameras and winter tires: renter's obligations

• Camera fines: decisions come to the owner of the car, we reissue them to the renter — payment is mandatory regardless of who was driving.
• Paid parking: In central Moscow, parking costs 380–800 ₽ per hour from 8:00 to 21:00, and 200 ₽ at night; the fine for non-payment is 5 000 ₽, and towing costs 8 500–12 450 ₽ plus storage.
• Toll roads: The MSD, TsKAD ring, M-11 and M-12 are paid by the renter — via transponder or car number within the road operator's deadline.
• Winter tires: From December to February, winter tires are mandatory by law; our fleet is switched seasonally, but the tread condition is worth checking upon pickup.

On the MSD, on weekdays from 7:00 to 11:00 and from 16:00 to 20:00, each section costs 19 ₽; outside peak hours and on weekends, travel is free; transit without exiting is 950 ₽. On the TsKAD, the full circle will cost 171 ₽ during peak hours, and outside peak hours it's free. A transponder gives a discount of up to 25%, so for frequent trips beyond the MKAD, it's beneficial to get one in advance. The fine for unpaid parking of 5 000 ₽ often exceeds the daily rental of a GAZelle, so we remind you: monitor the paid parking zone via the app and keep payment receipts until the end of the trip.
