Hyundai for rent in Moscow: models, prices, conditions
Hyundai rental in Moscow — five models from Solaris to Staria, from 2 700 to 9 500 ₽ per day, with delivery across Moscow and the region.
Which Hyundai models are available for rent in Moscow and how much does it cost
Rent-Trip's fleet includes five Hyundai models: from the compact Solaris to the nine-seat Staria. The cars are divided into Economy, Comfort, and Minivan classes, all with automatic transmissions and petrol or diesel engines. Below are the specifications and prices for each model so you can choose a car that fits your needs: for city driving, business meetings, or suburban routes.
Solaris — the most affordable economy-class sedan
Hyundai Solaris — the base model in our fleet and the cheapest option: 2 700 ₽ per day. It is an economy-class sedan with a 1.6 L petrol engine (123 hp), automatic transmission, and front-wheel drive, seating five passengers. The car suits daily city driving: its compact size makes parking easier in courtyards near Patriarch Ponds or by the Third Ring Road, and fuel consumption in the combined cycle remains moderate. If you plan to take the car for a week, the cost drops to 16 200 ₽ — that is six days at the daily rate. For a trip to a dacha in the Moscow region, the boot space is enough for a couple of suitcases and groceries.
Elantra and Sonata—comfortable sedans for business trips
Hyundai Elantra is rented for 3 600 ₽ per day: a comfort-class sedan with a 2.0 L petrol engine (150 hp), automatic transmission, and front-wheel drive. The Hyundai Sonata is the older model at 4 500 ₽ per day: a 2.5 L engine (180 hp), spacious cabin, and longer wheelbase. Both cars seat five passengers and suit business trips: meeting partners in Moscow City, transfer to an office on Leninsky Prospekt, or a trip to Sheremetyevo Airport via the M-11. The Sonata feels quieter on the highway and more confident when overtaking due to its power reserve; the Elantra is more manoeuvrable in heavy traffic on the Garden Ring. For long routes like Kazan via the M-12 Vostok motorway, the Sonata is more comfortable: less fatigue over eight hours of driving.
Creta is a crossover for suburban routes
Hyundai Creta — a crossover with increased ground clearance, price — 4 200 ₽ per day. Under the hood is a 2.0 L petrol engine (150 hp), automatic transmission, and front-wheel drive — there is no all-wheel-drive version in our fleet. Five seats, and the boot is more spacious than in sedans: it fits two suitcases and a stroller. The Creta is a sensible choice for trips along paved routes in the Moscow region: to Yasnaya Polyana near Tula (~2.5 hours via the M-2) or to Kolomna via the M-5. The seating position is higher than in the Elantra — easier to get in and out, and on a dirt road near a dacha cooperative, the ground clearance saves the underbody from scraping. Around the city, the Creta is also practical: the mirrors provide good visibility in traffic on the Third Ring Road.
Staria is a 9-seat minivan with all-wheel drive
Hyundai Staria — the most spacious model in our fleet: 9 seats, 2.2 L diesel engine (177 hp), automatic transmission, and all-wheel drive. The price is 9 500 ₽ per day, which is the top of the price range. The Staria is taken for group trips: transfer of eight passengers from Domodedovo to the city centre, a corporate event, or a trip to the Golden Ring with the family. The three rows of seats can be configured for luggage, the diesel is more economical than petrol over long distances, and all-wheel drive adds confidence on a snowy country road in winter. A category B driving licence is required — a standard requirement, but note: due to its size, the car requires care when parking in the centre at paid lots.
Comparison of Hyundai models in the Rent-Trip fleet
| Model | Class | Seats | Engine | Drive | Price per day |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Solaris | Economy | 5 | Petrol 1.6 L, 123 hp | Front-wheel | 2 700 ₽ |
| Elantra | Comfort | 5 | Petrol 2.0 L, 150 hp | Front-wheel | 3 600 ₽ |
| Creta | Crossover | 5 | Petrol 2.0 L, 150 hp | Front-wheel | 4 200 ₽ |
| Sonata | Comfort | 5 | Petrol 2.5 L, 180 hp | Front-wheel | 4 500 ₽ |
| Staria | Minivan | 9 | Diesel 2.2 L, 177 hp | All-wheel | 9 500 ₽ |
When choosing between Solaris and Elantra, the difference of 900 ₽ per day is justified if you have frequent trips on the MKAD ring road or M-11: the more powerful engine of the Elantra holds speed more confidently outside the city. In our practice, clients who took a Sonata for a week noted that the extra cost for comfort on long routes significantly reduces fatigue — and with monthly rental from 56 700 ₽, the class difference becomes less noticeable against the overall trip budget.
Documents, insurance, and driver requirements when renting a Hyundai in Moscow
To rent a Hyundai in the capital, you need a minimum set of documents, a valid OSAGO (compulsory third-party insurance), and compliance with the age and driving experience requirements — they increase with the car class and are specified in the rental contract. For Russian citizens, a passport and a category B driving licence are enough. Foreigners will need a migration card, a visa or residence permit, as well as a national licence — but with a number of specifics.
Documents for citizens of Russia: passport and category B driving licence
For Hyundai Solaris, Elantra, Sonata, Creta or Staria, a citizen of the Russian Federation needs only a passport and a valid Category B driving licence. Age and driving experience are confirmed when signing the contract; the minimum values depend on the car class — for an economy sedan they are lower than for a 9-seat minivan. The exact figures are specified in the rental agreement. The bank card is issued in the name of the main driver — the security deposit is debited from it, the amount of which is also fixed in the contract. If a second driver will get behind the wheel, their passport and licence must be indicated when booking — this will take a couple of minutes in correspondence with the manager.
Hyundai rental by a foreigner: migration card and driving licence specifics
A foreign national rents a Hyundai in the capital if they have a passport, migration card, and visa or residence permit. A national driving licence is valid if the issuing country is party to the Vienna Convention on Road Traffic. For citizens of countries not party to the Convention — for example, China — national licences are accepted only with a notarized translation into Russian or with an International Driving Permit (IDP). This requirement is established in Article 25 of Federal Law No. 196-FZ. Clarify the set of documents when booking via MAX or by phone — the manager will advise what to prepare for the vehicle handover.
Insurance: OSAGO by law, CASCO terms in the rental agreement
Each car in our fleet is insured under OSAGO (compulsory third-party insurance) — this is mandatory civil liability insurance valid for all registered cars. The terms of CASCO (comprehensive insurance), if issued for a specific car, are specified in the rental agreement — the deductible and the procedure in the event of an accident are also stated there. Rent-Trip does not invent insurance packages beyond the law: what exactly the policy covers, you read in the contract before signing.
| Model | Class | Seats | Russian documents | Documents for a foreigner |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Solaris | Economy | 5 | Passport, category B licence | International passport, migration card, visa/residence permit, driving licence |
| Elantra | Comfort | 5 | Passport, category B licence | International passport, migration card, visa/residence permit, driving licence |
| Sonata | Comfort | 5 | Passport, category B licence | International passport, migration card, visa/residence permit, driving licence |
| Creta | Crossover | 5 | Passport, category B licence | International passport, migration card, visa/residence permit, driving licence |
| Staria | Minivan | 9 | Passport, category B licence | International passport, migration card, visa/residence permit, driving licence |
For Chinese licences, a notarized translation or an International Driving Permit will be required. The full list of documents for car delivery is clarified upon booking.
Delivery of Hyundai in Moscow, to airports and railway stations when renting
The Rent-Trip service has no physical office, so we deliver the car where it is convenient for the client: across the capital, the region, to any of the four airports, or the desired railway station. Delivery is part of the service; the cost terms are specified in the rental agreement.
Delivery to Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo, Vnukovo, and Zhukovsky
You'll find the car right at the arrival terminal, saving an hour or an hour and a half on a taxi to the city. We deliver Hyundai to any of the four Moscow airports:
- Sheremetyevo: north of the capital, about 30 km from the MKAD ring road via the M-11 or Leningradskoye Shosse.
- Domodedovo: south, about 45 km along Kashirskoye Highway or M-4.
- Vnukovo: southwest, about 28 km along the Kiev or Borovskoye highway.
- Zhukovsky: southeast, about 40 km along Novoryazanskoye Highway.
When delivering to the airport, we hand over the keys, documents, and give a brief orientation on the car — usually takes 10–15 minutes. If your flight is delayed, notify us in MAX or by phone, and we will adjust the meeting time.
Pickup at train stations and delivery across the capital and region
For those arriving by train, we deliver a Hyundai to any of the capital's ten stations: Leningradsky, Yaroslavsky, Kazansky, Kursky, Kievsky, Belorussky, Paveletsky, and others. At the appointed time, the car waits at the main entrance—no need to look for a rental counter inside the station building.
Inside the city, we deliver the car to any district: from Patriki and Chistye Prudy to Strogino and Yasenevo. In the region, we deliver to cities like Khimki, Mytishchi, or Odintsovo—clarify the exact zone and conditions when booking. At a convenient time, we hand over the keys near your home, office, or at the airport, and if necessary, we pick up the car after the rental ends at the same point.
Departure beyond the MKAD ring road: toll roads MSD, TsKAD, M-11, M-12
If you plan a trip outside the capital, take into account toll sections — the payment falls on the renter. On the Moscow High-Speed Diameter (MSD), passing one section costs 19 ₽ during peak hours (weekdays 7:00–11:00 and 16:00–20:00), outside peak hours and on weekends — free, transit without exiting — 950 ₽. The TsKAD ring — similar 19 ₽ per section during peak, the entire circle 171 ₽. The M-11 Neva motorway to Saint Petersburg and the M-12 Vostok motorway to Kazan are toll throughout: a passenger car on the M-12 to Kazan will cost 5 909 ₽. A transponder in the car gives a discount of up to 25% on passage, and the payment method without it is specified when booking.
How to rent a Hyundai in Moscow more profitably — for a day, a week, or a month
The term directly affects the cost: at Rent-Trip, the daily rate for a Hyundai Solaris is 2 700 ₽, and a week costs as six days. The difference between the daily and long-term rate reaches 16%, so before booking you should estimate how many days the car will actually be in use.
Daily rate: from 2 700 ₽
Short-term rental for one or two days is the most flexible format. You pay exactly for the days you have the car, and you are not tied to a calendar: you took a Solaris for the weekend — 5 400 ₽ for two days, extended for another day — added 2 700 ₽. In our practice, daily rental is more often taken for meetings at the airport, moving around the city, and trips to the dacha in the Moscow region. The daily rate includes delivery of the car across the capital and the region, as well as to four airports — Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo, Vnukovo and Zhukovsky. If the trip has shifted, let us know in MAX — the adjustment terms are specified in the rental agreement.
Week: six days instead of seven
When renting a car for seven days or more, we calculate the rate as six daily tariffs. A Solaris for a week is 16 200 ₽ instead of 18 900 ₽, and a nine-seat Staria — 57 000 ₽ instead of 66 500 ₽. The savings are noticeable if you need transport for a business trip lasting a work week or for a vacation to the Golden Ring. Mileage conditions are specified in the rental agreement. On a weekly tariff, it's convenient to take an Elantra or Sonata: a comfortable sedan covers ~700 km on the M-11 motorway to Saint Petersburg without refuelling.
Month: 21 days in the calculation
The long-term format is considered even more profitable: a month equals 21 daily rates. A Solaris will cost from 56 700 ₽, a Creta from 88 200 ₽. This option suits when your own car is in the shop and daily driving is part of your work routine. For orders of a month or more, the car booking terms are clarified at the time of booking. The procedure for extending the rental period is specified in the rental agreement.
What to choose for your task
- Daily: a one-time trip to the airport, negotiations, moving around the city — 2 700–9 500 ₽ per day.
- Week: business trip or vacation with a route around the region — from 16 200 ₽ for Solaris.
- Month: replacement for your car being repaired or a work project — from 56 700 ₽.
The longer the term, the lower the effective daily rate. The exact price for your dates will be calculated by your Rent-Trip manager in MAX within a couple of minutes; the terms of delivery are specified in the rental agreement.
Fines, parking, and winter tires when renting a Hyundai in the capital
Hyundai rental in Moscow is convenient, but don't forget about three things that often surprise beginners: fines from cameras, paid parking in the center, and winter tires. Let's go through them in order so there are no surprises later.
Camera fines: who pays and how it works
Traffic camera fines go to the car owner, i.e., the rental company, not the driver. We re-invoice them to the renter — this is standard practice across the capital's market.
- Camera fines: decisions come to the address of the car owner, then we forward them to you — payment is mandatory.
- Paid parking: Rates in the centre are 380–800 ₽/hour from 8:00 to 21:00, at night — 200 ₽/hour; failure to pay risks a fine of 5 000 ₽.
- Towing: if the car is towed to an impound lot, that will cost 8 500–12 450 ₽ plus storage — substantial amounts, so watch the signs.
- Check before handover: before returning the car, check for unpaid parking fines — this will save time and nerves.
Parking in the center: rates and rules
The paid zone covers the Garden Ring and partially the districts inside it — Khamovniki, Arbat, Tverskoy, Presnensky. On the Patriarch's Ponds or Chistye Prudy, finding a free spot during the day is almost impossible. If you leave the car without paying, a camera will record the violation, and a fine of 5 000 ₽ will arrive after the trip. On weekends, rates are lower, but on weekdays from 8:00 to 21:00, be prepared to pay the upper limit — it's better to include this in your budget in advance.
Winter tires: a mandatory legal requirement
From December to February, the requirement of TR CU 018/2011 is in effect in the city — winter tyres are mandatory. The entire Rent-Trip fleet is switched seasonally, including Hyundai Solaris and Staria, so you receive a car already prepared for snow and ice. On summer tyres in December, you simply will not be allowed out — it is both a fine and a real danger on a slippery road.
Toll roads: MSD, TsKAD and transit
Inside the capital, toll sections are the MSD and TsKAD: 19 ₽ per section during peak hours, transit without exiting is 950 ₽. Outside the city—M-11 to Saint Petersburg and M-12 to Kazan, where payment is for the entire route. The transponder gives a discount up to 15%, but if you don't have it, pay by the car's license plate within the road operator's deadline. The procedure for paying tolls and other conditions are clarified when booking.
Where to go in a rented Hyundai from Moscow
Renting a Hyundai from Rent-Trip and staying within the MKAD ring road is impractical: the car opens up routes that would take 3–7 hours by public transport. We deliver the car to any district of the capital, so your journey on the highway starts right from your home. Below are the destinations you can realistically drive to for a day or a weekend, with travel times on asphalt.
- Saint Petersburg via the M-11 Neva motorway: ~700 km and about 7 hours of pure driving. The road is tolled for the entire stretch; the toll for a car depends on the section and time of day.
- The Golden Ring: Sergiev Posad — an hour's drive away, Pereslavl-Zalessky and Rostov Veliky — 2–3 hours, Yaroslavl, Suzdal and Vladimir — 3–4 hours. A convenient route for 2–3 days with overnight stays in different cities.
- Tula and Yasnaya Polyana: ~2.5 hours along the M-2 or M-4. A classic weekend trip — leave in the morning, see the estate and the kremlin in a day, return in the evening.
- Kolomna: ~2 hours along the M-5. A one-day option: the kremlin, the pastila museum, and the embankment fit into daylight hours.
- Kazan via the M-12 Vostok motorway: ~8 hours one way. For such a distance, the class 1 toll for the entire route is 5 909 ₽, plus fuel; it makes sense to rent a car for a week to use the "6 days for the price of the tariff" formula.
For a long road in a Solaris or Elantra, plan a stop every 2–3 hours — on the M-11 and M-12, petrol stations and rest areas are frequent. If you are going as six or nine, take the Staria: 9 seats and all-wheel drive remove the question of who did not fit, and diesel on the highway consumes less than a petrol analogue. The procedure for paying for toll sections is specified in the rental agreement.
